"Speel sterk met de gedachte om mijn appartement te verkopen"

Na decennia vol beweging begint Barrie te merken dat zijn lichaam niet meer altijd meewerkt. Voor iemand die zijn leven lang danste en bezig was met theatrale choreografieën, is dat een flinke omschakeling. "Het is ontzettend confronterend", geeft hij toe. "Als ik 's ochtends wakker word en uit bed stap, denk ik steeds vaker: oh jee, daar gaan we weer. Mijn benen doen pijn, de souplesse is weg."

Toch denkt de entertainer nog lang niet aan stilzitten, want zijn volgende avontuur ligt alweer klaar. "Ik speel heel sterk met de gedachte om mijn appartement in Amsterdam te verkopen", onthult hij. "Als ik die overwaarde vrijmaak, heb ik de financiële ruimte om iets te doen wat ik altijd al wilde: reizen."

Barrie Stevens speelt in juli laatste voorstellingen

Hoewel het podium straks achter hem ligt, blijft de nieuwsgierigheid van Barrie groot. De entertainer wil zijn tijd gebruiken om nieuwe herinneringen te maken en nog zoveel mogelijk van het leven te genieten. "Ik wil mijn laatste jaren nog voorzien van een heleboel nieuwe, warme kleuren", besluit hij.
